New Hat for a New Niece!

I'm getting a new niece next month and I wanted to get something special to welcome her into this world. So, since I'm a craft nut of course I'm going to whip out my crochet needle! Ha ha!
I wanted to make her a hat to keep her pretty baby head warm but, I just wasn't satisfied with the patterns I was looking at. Nothing was special enough...so of course I had to do my thing and make something up. This is what I came up with...I alternated a double crochet and honeycomb pattern.
When all is said and done I'm more than happy with the finshed product. It's special without being over the top. I can't wait to see her modeling it!

Craft, Craft, Craft!

Ahh...the joys of crafting! I've been super busy these last few days. I found a pattern for a really pretty set of fingerless gloves I want to make for myself so my hands won't go numb at work come winter. So, far they are turning out beautifully. Although I wish I had more time to devote to making them. As it stands now I'm only completeing 2 rows at a time! ha ha. This is why I started it now, at least this way I know they'll be done by winter!

Why is it taking me so long you might wonder. Well, aside from the full time job, I'm constantly making things to add to my shop, plus I've recently had some custom orders from people at my job. I'm so excited everytime I get a custom order because I love making something for someone that I know they will enjoy and get great use out of. However, there is always 2 sides to the coin and this means less time to make stuff for me! ha ha! But, I suppose it's better to love your burden than hate it! And since I love what I do, it's all good in the hood!

Yellow and White flower coasters!

These are my new coasters! I absolutely love them! I had so much fun making them too. I decided I wanted to make some coasters that weren't the norm. So, I used 2 strands of cotton yarn. One in yellow and one in white. It made a much thicker coaster than you usually find and because it's made of 100% cotton yarn it's extremely absorbent. I finished off the coasters using a shell pattern. And this is what I ended up with!
They are so much fun and the yellow and white make these a cheerful addition to any room!
Let me know what you think!
